I’ve just about gotten used to eating masala dosa for breakfast. It’s a kind of pancake filled with a spicy mashed potato mixture and typically served with coconut chutney and a little veg curry. But I’d still opt for museli or porridge first thing in the morning.
Today started with a lazy breakfast at the T-pot cafe in Kochi before traveling to the city of Alleppey.
Walking in the mountains yesterday I got to see all sorts of spices growing in the spice gardens. Here they are dried and ready for sale.
Today I went hiking in the Munnar mountains surrounded by tea planations. We also walked through some spice gardens and got to see cardamon, pepper, cloves, vanilla as well as lots of fruit trees.
Everywhere you look in Kerala there’s a shop selling spices.
Today we went down to Candolim for cafe chocolati’s famous brownies, beach time and dinner at pete’s shack. A great day out.
Today it’s my friend Sophie’s birthday so we headed to the perfect lunch spot at Ashwam beach. The ‘restaurant’ consists of a single table overlooking the beach and Daniel, the chef, serves up a delicious, fresh, tasty meal (you don’t choose what to eat, but it’s all fabulous). Happy Birthday Soph!
