Today, my friend Francois and I spent the day in the beautiful Kerala backwaters. Parts of the canals were covered in so many water-lilies that you can’t see the water.
Today I traveled into the mountains in Kerala and on the way we stopped to watch the temple elephants being washed in the river.
I arrived in the town of Hampi this morning after taking the (non-)sleeper bus from Goa. As the sun rose local men and women came to wash, themselves and their clothes, in the river.
Hampi is the former capital of the Vijayanangara Empire and is home to numerous hindu temples, mainly built in the 16th century.
Today is my final day in Laos and I spent it wandering around the city and visiting some of the beautiful temples. There’s a little hill in the middle of the city with wonderful views of the Mekong river.
After finishing today’s hike, we took a boat along the Mekong river passing many locals, fishing, collecting watercress, cleaning clothes and various other activities in the river.
Today I continued my trip through the Mekong Delta by boat. We past many small fishing villages where people live around, on and from the water.
Today I traveled from Cambodia to Vietnam by boat along the Mekong river to the Mekong Delta area.
