After an overnight bus to Bangkok (including a drug-bust) the only humane way to spend a day in the capital was to pay a hotel to let me use their pool for the day before my flight to India.
Today I went to cooking school which was AMAZING. We started out by visiting a local market with our small wicker baskets.
We got to choose from a range of different dishes and then cooked them in small groups and eating each dish after we made it. I cooked papaya salad, tom yum soup, pad thai, green curry with chicken and coconut sticky rice with mango.
I arrived in Chaing Mai, Thailand today after a LONG tuk-tuk/bus/tuk-tuk/boat/mini-bus journey.
I happened to be visiting this temple when a session of worship began. The monks sat and chanted for about half an hour, followed by some spoken prayers and the silent contemplation/meditation. I found it hard enough just sitting cross-legged for an hour.
