Today I went to Paripally, a nearby town to see the temple celebrations and elephant parade. There must have been about 50 elephants covered in ceremonial dress, first on show in the temple grounds and then paraded through the busy streets (amongst the chaotic traffic!).
Today a group of us travelled south to Donnelly River ready to start our 3-day bush trek tomorrow. We’ll be walking a short section of the Bibbulmun Track which is 1000km long in total. We stayed in a cottage in the village and were greeted by hoards of wild kangaroos when we got out of the car.
Today I visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, with my friend and ex-colleague Wojtek. The sanctuary has been running for over 80 years, starting with just two koalas. They now maintain a population of around 130. I also saw kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, dingos, tasmanian devils, and much more besides.
