Today, my friend Francois and I spent the day in the beautiful Kerala backwaters. Parts of the canals were covered in so many water-lilies that you can’t see the water.
Today started with a lazy breakfast at the T-pot cafe in Kochi before traveling to the city of Alleppey.
Walking in the mountains yesterday I got to see all sorts of spices growing in the spice gardens. Here they are dried and ready for sale.
Today I went hiking in the Munnar mountains surrounded by tea planations. We also walked through some spice gardens and got to see cardamon, pepper, cloves, vanilla as well as lots of fruit trees.
Today I went to a tea museum and factory in Munnar. The entire region is covered in tea plantations (a dream for any discerning English woman).
Today I traveled into the mountains in Kerala and on the way we stopped to watch the temple elephants being washed in the river.
Everywhere you look in Kerala there’s a shop selling spices.
